Intelligent Reporting with a Backbone

Businesses today are looking to improve business processes and better manage key functions, empower employees at all levels to make vital business decisions and deliver information to customers, suppliers, and other external partners efficiently and cost-effectively.

To achieve these goals, businesses need to provide accurate, reliable and timely business information to an unlimited number of users and user types, both inside and outside the organization. Critical information locked away in disparate enterprise systems must be made readily available, so the broadest base of users can easily view, print, distribute, analyze – and leverage it to effectively perform the most critical aspects of their jobs.

Structured Ad Hoc Equals Simple and Flexible

In the spectrum of business intelligence (BI) functions and tools, an information gap exists between the simple and the flexible. Although there are many different ways of getting information from a data warehouse and other data sources, the three most common information access methods - scheduled or push reporting, parameter-driven reporting, and ad hoc query and reporting and online analytical processing (OLAP) - exhibit varying degrees of simplicity and flexibility. A fourth and newer alternative called structured ad hoc may offer the best hope of filling in the information gap, providing a broad range of users simple and flexible in one package.

CEO Speaks

Greetings!

Reporting is the foundation of business software strategy - it provides users the most-requested pieces of information reliably and securely, via the Web or embedded in enterprise applications.

Enterprise reporting takes that to the next level: it gives corporate users the ability to access any data across the enterprise and correlate it to any other, without having to learn complex software models. Individuals at all organizational levels and job functions, as well as supply chain partners and customers can then rely on powerful, flexible enterprise reporting systems that present targeted data in the most consumable format for day to day operations.

PK4's reporting technology, vInfoStore, brings a unique slant to this very real need: it gives users the ability to built truly "ad hoc" reports, apart from configurable, customizable "canned" reports. It allows users to schedule the delivery of these reports in XL, PDF, HTML or Text to their email boxes, portal sections, wherever.

And it does all of this in a simple, browser-based mechanism. It also allows companies to create the full range of report formats needed in business today - from classic business reports to very detailed operational reports that are typically paper-based.

One of the most important and unique aspects of vInfoStore is the ability to combine traditional banded report layout techniques used in operational reporting with the powerful, graphical zone-based layout used to produce scorecards and dashboards. We deliver a complete enterprise reporting solution that easily produces the operational reports as well as scorecards and dashboards from a single platform.

    Yes, they actually said that!

"There are two ways of constructing software design; one way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies. The first method is far more difficult."

Case Study

Our customer provides various real estate related services through its group companies. Each of these companies operates independently and has their own financial systems and databases.

The Company maintains twelve production databases to support title insurance, Settlement services, and title and escrow services in a centralized data center. However, the database schema is common for all the databases. Many of these databases are linked to each other and share common information. Hence to capture and process orders or customer information often data needs to be accessed from these multiple sources.

The customer wanted to automate the entire process of report generation, commission calculation and it’s delivery to various end users through an implementation of a secure web-based - Sales Reporting Portal. Its implementation would help to provide each user in the field, information that is meaningful, timely and actionable.
